A digitally addressable digital dimming electronic ballast based on the CAN Bus protocol has been developed. The ballast is a basic lighting component of a novel lighting system proposed for this work based on this protocol. A digital dimming electronic ballast design, a lighting system structure scheme based on CAN Bus and a software platform to control the ballast by a personal computer are presented.
