This paper purposes a portable multispectra tunable forensic lens for jadeite analysis. The visible and ultraviolet light are used to detect the absorption spectra of natural jadeite, implement jadeite, and jadeite color spectra around 550∼700 nm. Besides, tunable lens with three-step (5, 7 and 10 X) magnification is based on the dielectric liquid lens.
This paper is demonstrated the effect of Ge interlayer and patterned substrate to form low resistance Ohmic contact of n-GaN. The Ge interlayer is acted as heavily n-type dopant atoms at the interface of metal and n-GaN to enhance carrier tunneling. The patterned substrate is designed to increase the annealing temperature at the interface of the metal and n-GaN. Contact resistances were derived from...
We propose a silver nanoparticle etching technology to fabricate nano/micro surfaces. The behaviors of HIG-82 fibroblasts can be controlled by nano/mirco patterned silicon surface in vitro. The microposts were defined through photolithography and silver nanoparticles assisted etching was used to produce the nanostuctures. After that, the hydrophobic chemical was coated on the surface of nanostructures...
This paper describe an easy-to-handle approach to probe cellular behaviors via applying a force on microstructures (mechanical stimulation) with mammalian cells. The external mechanical stimulation on cells was performed through applying various forces on the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) microstructures after cells adhered onto it. After mechanical stimulation on PDMS microstructures for 2 hours using...
To improve the quality of deposited amorphous germanium (a-Ge) on the Si substrate, a re-crystallization method of a-Ge by laser annealing is demonstrated. Laser annealing has two important advantages: high energy density E (700, mJ/cm2) is melting the a-Ge and a lot of laser spot quantity (20 spots) is alteration the a-Ge quality. These two factors were carefully designed to fabricate the high quality...
A three-dimensional (3-D) adiabatic tapered coupler is demonstrated to improve light coupling between single-mode fibers (SMF) and an integrated photonic chip. This 3-D taper, made by polymer via a fabrication process using mode extrusion in combination with photolithography, can have a large coupling area matching with a fiber core. For a silicon oxynitride waveguide coupling to a SMF, the measured...
We presented the design and fabrication of fiber-mode-matched three-dimension (3D) tapered couplers for efficient coupling light from fibers to photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The 3D adiabatic taper was made by SU8 and the structure was designed by beam propagation method (BPM). Measuring waveguide transmission with this 3D taper, we observed that the coupling efficiency was improved by 12 dB...
We report the development of an implantable multifunctional (glucose and cholesterol) needle type biosensor with integrated RF wireless circuitry for continuous in vivo monitoring of metabolites during short term stays in emergency room or intensive care unit. Silicon-based MEMS technologies are used for the fabrication of micro needle sensors. The whole device is covered by a biocompatible Parylene...
