In this paper, an attempt has been made to present and discuss the current changes in the environment of maritime navigation, but especially the changes in the operational environment of navigation. These changes constitute the main reasons that force the adaptation of ships’ navigation systems to the new environment’s requirements. The subject of the adaptation process has also been presented.
