The concept, protocols, instruments of fluorous solid-phase extraction techniques, and their applications for solution-phase parallel and high-throughput synthesis of small molecules and biomolecules are reviewed in this article.
A general fluorous thiol quenching method is introduced. Excess α-bromoketones or benzyl bromides in parallel N-alkylation reactions are quenched with a fluorous thiol (C 6 F 13 CH 2 CH 2 SH). The resulting fluorous derivatives can be separated from the reaction mixture by a solid phase extraction on fluorous silica gel.
