Three principles of designing base-station antennas are proposed: wide band impedance match, stable radiation patterns in wide frequency band and high cross polarization ratio in wide angle range.
A wideband dual-polarized antenna excited by T-shaped microstrip feedline for Long Term Evolution (LTE) communication system is presented. The VSWR less than 1.5, isolation between the two input ports more than 30dB, gain more than 9 dBi, and stable radiation patterns, low cross-polarization ratio, low backlobe radiation are obtained in the entire operating frequency band from 1.7 to 2.7 GHz.
Based on the principle of broadband filters with stub-loaded resonator (SLR), a principle is proposed to design broadband antennas by loading resonators to radiator. Similar to SLR, when a dipole is loaded with resonators, its high-order resonant modes can be close to the first mode, leading the broadband impedance match. The proposed resonator-loaded dipole (RLR) is applied to design the base-station...
