Dual-polarization distributed Bragg reflector fiber laser (26 mm length) in Er-doped fiber with beat-frequency of ~20 MHz (significantly lower than ~1 GHz reported earlier) that is capable of detecting 16 MHz ultrasound has been demonstrated.
We introduce a bending sensor by measuring the beat frequency shift of a DBR fiber laser. The polarization beat frequency of the DBR laser exhibits high sensitivity to fiber bending while immune to temperature change.
A novel approach for generating high-frequency microwave signals is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. With a pair of wavelength matched fiber Bragg gratings written directly in a polarization-maintaining erbium-doped fiber, a stable short cavity dual-wavelength single-longitudinal-mode (DW-SLM) distributed-Bragg-reflector fiber laser with orthogonal oscillation modes is realized at room temperature...
A single-longitudinal-mode erbium-doped fiber laser based on a fiber-Bragg-grating pair formed by two standard fiber Bragg gratings is proposed. Both single-wavelength and dual-wavelength single-longitudinal-mode lasing for the proposed fiber laser have been demonstrated.
