We demonstrate a method enabling the use of phase modulated pumps for 9-fold multicasting of 50 Gb/s RZ-DPSK signals. Phase modulation of the input signal along with the pumps allows for self-seeded multicasting with ~1.8 dB average power penalty.
By using a large signal analysis for a dispersive optical fibre, the FM-AM conversion with respect to binary intensity-modulated PCM systems is discussed. Criteria for the maximum linewidth/bitrate-ratio are derived yielding Delta v/B<4.4*10/sup -3/, if no degradation of the achievable bitrate-length product is to occur.<<ETX>>
