In this paper, we describe a gait generation method for the crawling motion of a legged robot using Normalized Energy Stability Margin (NESM). The crawling motion is a method of locomotion that, since the robot is very close to a state of falling, its leg and torso are grounded alternately in order to enable the robot to move with a low center of gravity. It has the benefit of decreasing the impact...
We have experimentally demonstrated a compact polarization beam splitter based on the augmented-low-index-guiding structure in the silicon nitride/silicon-on-insulator platform. The device is only 4.8 microns long. The design of the device is robust and has a good fabrication tolerance.
We have proposed and experimentally demonstrated a broadband polarization rotator based on the augmented-low-index-guiding platform which consists of both silicon and silicon nitride layers as the waveguide core. With single etching process and silica cladding, the device is compatible with photonics integrated circuits.
We propose a new scheme, which is easy to implement and can be used to integrate low index nonlinear materials with silicon photonics to achieve high nonlinearly without suffering nonlinear losses.
A compact broadband polarization beam splitter based on the augmented low index guiding scheme is proposed. TM and TE modes are separated in two layers with the TM mode confined in the lower index layer.
A new type of non-reciprocal C-band magnetic tunable bandpass filter with ultra-wideband isolation is presented. The BPF was designed with a 45° rotated yttrium iron garnet (YIG) slab loaded on an inverted-L shaped microstrip transducer pair. This filter shows an insertion loss of 1.6∼2.3dB and an ultra-wideband isolation of more than 20dB, which was attributed to the magnetostatic surface wave. The...
The polarization diversity of the hybrid plasmonic waveguide can be used to implement a very compact TE-pass polarizer. Here we report the first experimental demonstration of such a device.
