We report an experimental violation of a Bell inequality with strong statistical significance. Our experiment employs polarization measurements on entangled single photons and closes the locality, freedom-of-choice, fair-sampling, coincidence-time, and memory loopholes simultaneously.
The development of InP-based 4- and 8-channel IQ Mach-Zehnder modulator PICs as basic active building blocks in advanced hybrid terabit super-channel OFDM/Nyquist WDM transmitter components is reported for the first time.
A Transition Edge Sensor (TES) composite bolometer for Fourier Transform spectroscopy was developed. The design is based on a superconducting thermistor, SiN membrane technology and a thin film metal mesh absorber which is optimized for the spectral range from 0.1 THz to 3 THz. A prototype was built; its characterization and first application results are presented.
A new composite bolometer for Fourier transform spectroscopy was designed for the range from 0.1 THz to 3 THz aiming to achieve a higher dynamic range at similar detectivity as commercially available silicon composite bolometers. It is based on a thin film metal mesh absorber, a superconducting thermistor and SiN membrane technology.
In a Bell experiment, one prepares pairs of entangled particles and sends them to two observers, Alice and Bob, for measurement and detection [1]. For some choices of their measurement settings, Alice and Bob may observe strong correlations between their results in accordance with the predictions of quantum mechanical theory. Conversely, any physical theory that assumes no physical influence can be...
Increasing demands in world-wide energy consumption and oil depletion of large reservoirs have resulted in the need for exploring smaller and more complex oil reservoirs. Planning of the reservoir valorization usually starts with creating a model of the subsurface structures, including seismic faults and horizons. However, seismic interpretation and horizon tracing is a difficult and error-prone task,...
Many microcell models in literature apply ray tracing or ray launching techniques, having however the disadvantage of consuming too much computer-running time for engineering applications. The number of propagation paths has to be minimised and the path finding algorithms have to be simplified in order to achieve a much faster average field strength prediction. This is possible particularly for dense...
