High energy stereoscopic system (HESS) is a recent operational detector dedicated to the observation of γ-rays in the very high energy range. Situated in Namibia, it is composed of four Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes and gives a significant improvement in sensitivity and in accuracy of the reconstructed γ-ray parameters.
