This paper presents a three-dimensional (3-D) flexible micro light emitting diode (μ-LED) array for optogenetics. The array integrates individually addressable μ-LED chips with out-of-plane polymer-based microscale waveguides for deep brain optical stimulation. SU-8 waveguides were fabricated using a backside exposure method. A wafer-level assembly technique was demonstrated, which permits large scale,...
We demonstrate 40-GHz phase stable short optical pulses generation using an electroabsorption modulator and cascaded phase modulators. The pulses are characterized with a small pedestal, 2.1-ps pulsewidth, an extinction ratio larger than 23 dB, timing jitter less than 60 fs, and an optical signal-to-noise ratio over 40 dB over 30-nm tuning range. The high quality and phase stability of the pulses...
60GHz radio coverage is extended by using RoF at intermediate frequency with two hops in the air. MMF and low-cost photonics are used. Real-time transmission between two commercial Wireless-HD devices at 3Gbit/s is achieved.
With this optical home network solution associating an N×N multimode architecture and CWDM technology, various applications and network topologies are supported by a unique multiformat infrastructure. Issues related to the use of MMF are discussed.
We propose mid and long term visions of optical Home Area Networks. The challenge is not only to increase the network capacity, but also to take into account the heterogeneity of the signals to be conveyed: Ethernet, RF TV and radio signals for wireless-end-connectivity. Two solutions are described: a mid term solution, based on an active star and centered on a multiformat switch, and a long term...
Self-steepening effect is demonstrated to reduce the frequency shift of dispersive wave trapped by soliton and increase its energy. The frequency and energy evolution of dispersive wave is studied analytically, consistent well with simulation.
