Peripheral nerve injury evokes a complex cascade of chemical reactions including generation of molecular radicals. Conversely, the reactions within nerve induced by stress are difficult to directly detect or measure to establish causality. Monitoring these reactions in vivo would enable deeper understanding of the nature of the injury and healing processes. Here, we utilized near-infrared fluorescence...
We review recent experiments on the use of terahertz frequency time-domain spectroscopy to sense materials of security relevance. We also explore developments in the use of terahertz quantum cascade lasers to discriminate such materials, and new THz sources that can potentially exploit convenient communication wavelength excitation lasers.
In this paper we report on a novel fabrication approach for the manufacture of terahertz waveguides with embedded metal rods. It is anticipated that this type of structure could be used for sub-wavelength imaging or as a method to effectively couple radiation into biological samples.
