A new BODIPY derivative bearing hydrazone and hydrazide moieties was developed as an efficient dual-channel ratiometric fluorescence chemodosimeter 1 for Cu2+ in neutral aqueous medium via Cu2+-mediated hydrolysis of CN bond in hydrazone unit.
