The University of Glasgow-University of Electronic Science and Technology of China joint education programme enrolled its first cohort of students in Fall 2013. Continual assessment of the programme was initiated shortly thereafter to monitor student achievement in the programme, to evaluate how well the aims of the programme are being met, and to determine areas where improvements can be made. Several...
To deal with the shortage of 3He gas, which is widely used in thermal neutron detection, the boron coated straw-tubes have been developing to replace the 3He proportional counters. We present in this paper the realization process of a straw tube with 1 m long and the diameter is 4 mm, with 1 µm B4C layer coated on the inner surface to convert neutrons to charged particles.[1] The parameters, high...
In this study, we modified single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) by CHF3 plasma generated by reactiveion etching (RIE) reactor. X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy (XPS) indicated fluorine atoms were attached to the side wall of CNTs. Static contact angle (CA) measurements indicated a very significant increase in the water contact angle from 65° for pristine CNTs to 170° for the doped SWCNTs.
Four different solder alloys of Sn-3.5Ag-0.7Cu-xSb (x=0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0) were used to investigate the microstructure evolution, grain size distribution of intermetallic compound (IMC), and the relationship between copper atomic diffusion and channel width under different reflow time (t = 48, 240, 3600, and 7200s). Flux-driven ripening (FDR) theoretical model is adopted to analyze the grain ripening...
A dynamic error-feedback controller is presented for the synchronized output regulation of heterogenous linear networked systems, where only the leader node has the information of the regulated errors while the remaining follower nodes have the information of the relative output errors with respect to their in-neighboring nodes. By using the small-gain theorem, the sufficient criterion is developed...
Efficient extraction of minimal siphons is fundamentally important in deadlock control. So far, methods that are based on problem reduction and decomposition are recognized as effective ways. In this paper, an improved method is proposed to identify all minimal siphons. New conditions are proposed under which a problem needs not be decomposed. It significantly simplifies the process of problem decomposition...
Software is expected to be derived from requirements whose properties have been established perfectly. However, requirements are often inaccurate, incomplete or inconsistent as it is a very difficult task to define and analyze requirements. On the other hand, programs most likely deviates from requirements during implementation as the result of misunderstanding or/and neglecting requirements of software...
This paper presents synthesis and characterization of conducting polypyrrole-multi-walled carbon nanotube films co-depositing onto nickel electrode substrate. The electrochemical polymerization of pyrrole is performed in 100ml aqueous solution containing 0.2M pyrrole, 0.05M AOT and 0.01g multiwalled carbon nanotubes using three-electrode system. The SEM and cyclic voltammetry analysis show that the...
As an electrochromic material, nickel oxide thin films have a wide range of applications, such as energy-efficient windows, multi-color display, high contrast and non-radiation information display owing to its high discolor efficiency, good broadband absorption and neutral color properties. This paper presents a two-step method to prepare nickel oxide thin film, which includes the metal nickel films...
Taken the relief maps, MSS images, TM images, ETM images and CBERS images as basic data sources, this paper studied on the dynamic of lakes in Tibetan Plateau since 1960's using RS and GIS technique. The results showed that the increasing area of lakes in Tibetan Plateau in last 50 years is 5760 km2. The change can be divided into two phases: the lake trended to shrink from 1960's to the imddle of...
