We experimentally generated single wavelength 80 Gbit/s signals at 1952 nm with intensity modulated filter bank multicarrier scheme. Its transmission over 100m solid core SMFs was demonstrated with BER below FEC limit of 3.8 × 10−3.
We developed a novel approach to inscribe integrated chiral long period gratings into multicore fiber with electrical arc discharge method. Transmission spectra and polarization characteristics are measured through spatial division multiplexing fan-in/fan-out devices.
Compared with the conventional high voltage DC power supply, the high voltage pulse power supply can significantly improve the dust removal efficiency of electrostatic precipitator and reduce the energy consumption. This paper presents a new type of high voltage pulse electrostatic precipitator power supply topology, the symmetric cascaded structure of the low voltage side which can significantly...
We propose a novel method to measure the polarization mode coupling (PMC) distribution in polarization maintaining fiber (PMF) through nondestructive way based on microwave photonic filter technique. A proof-of-concept experiment has been conducted and proves the feasibility of our proposed method. The location and strength of PMC along the PMF links can be identified precisely.
We propose and demonstrate two types of infinite impulse response (IIR) microwave photonic filters (MPFs) with different structures, named cascaded structure and parallel structure. Both structures are based on the homogeneous multicore fiber (MCF) in which the inter-core power coupling has been established by tapering technique. The quality factors (Q factors) of cascaded and parallel structures...
An electro-optic chaos generator is proposed based on phase modulation to intensity modulation conversion and an analog-digital hybrid feedback loop. The analog part takes the digital sequences from shift registers as input and converts them into analog noise like signal, from which new bits are determined. The effective bandwidth and complexity of the output analog signal can reach a high level with...
Traditional OFDM techniques in VLC suffer from high PAPR and serious clipping distortion. In this paper, we propose a Precoded-DC-Biased Optical OFDM technique for VLC system. Numerical simulations are presented, proving substantial benefits in terms of PAPR and BER.
An all-fiber supercontinuum (SC) source with a repetition rate of over 100 MHz is experimentally demonstrated for the first time. The SC is generated by introducing the pulse output from a normal dispersion fiber laser into high nonlinearity fibers (HNLFs). An erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and single segment single mode fiber (SMF) are used to compress the pulsewidth to increase pulse peak power...
We proposed and demonstrated an optimized in-band optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) monitoring method for polarization division multiplexed coherent optical coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (PDM-CO-OFDM) system with CAZAC equalization and Raman amplification, and it shows satisfactory accuracy in a wide range.
We fabricate a helical long period grating (HLPG) in a multicore fiber. A fiber torsion sensor with directional discrimination based on the HLPG is experimentally demonstrated. The resonant dips offer the ability of simultaneously measurement of torsion and temperature.
We propose a quasi-single-mode transmission scheme using hybrid few-mode-fiber (FMF) and single-mode-fiber (SMF) span with Raman amplification for CO-OFDM system. No multi-path interference (MPI) compensation algorithm is used
A distributed temperature sensor (DTS) utilizing two mode fibers as the sensing fiber is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for long range temperature measurement. Compared with the few mode fiber (FMF) based DTS reported previously, the temperature resolution has been improved to be 1.7 °C at 10 km and 6.0 °C at 20 km, respectively.
A new method of temperature stress decoupling for structural health monitoring (SHM) of the FRP rod was proposed from the angle of mechanics rather than from the angle of sensing principle, packaging method and signal demodulation. This method has a significance on structural health monitoring of FRP rod.
Spatially arrayed long period gratings (LPGs) are inscribed in a multicore fiber by CO2 laser. The LPGs in the center core and one outer core exhibit different responses to bending and temperature. The directional bending sensor based on the LPGs has large sensitivity even for ultra-low curvature values ranging from 0 to 0.359 m−1.
We propose a novel structure of optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) based on a microwave photonics filter (MPF), and this MPF is implemented by phase modulation to intensity modulation conversion and a heterogeneous multicore fiber. In our scheme, the periodicity of the generated finite impulse response (FIR) filter by using the multicore fiber is broken by the phase modulation to intensity modulation...
We demonstrate a few mode fiber based Raman distributed temperature sensor with wavelet-denoising technique and optimized sensing link. Temperature sensing over 25 km with 3m/7.5 °C spatial /temperature resolution is achieved.
A bidirectional transmission with wavelength reuse technique enabled coreless CAP-PON system over multicore fiber is experimentally demonstrated. In the proposed scheme, the ONU side carrier suppression and OLT side coherent detection for a single wavelength implement is adopted for upstream transmission. The optical carrier is delivered from OLT to ONUs in different cores for upstream transmission...
We introduce physical-layer network coding for a passive optical interconnect architecture in datacenter networks. Results reveal that half of the wavelengths can be saved to obtain latency in the magnitude of microseconds.
Foreground segmentation in video sequences is a classic topic in computer vision. Due to the lack of semantic and prior knowledge, it is difficult for existing methods to deal with sophisticated scenes well. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an end-to-end two-stage deep convolutional neural network (CNN) framework for foreground segmentation in video sequences. In the first stage, a convolutional...
