We propose an energy-efficient mechanism and a corresponding multi-dimension dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) algorithm for long-reach Ethernet passive optical networks (LR-EPONs). Time delay was reduced and upstream bandwidth was increased by 10%, and energy saving is increased by 90% when load is small.
We propose an all-optical WDM multicast scheme for supporting emergency multicast service in WDM-OAN based on FWM in SOA. One-to-eight 10 Gb/s NRZ-DPSK WDM multicasts have been successfully transmitted over 10 km fiber in the case of FWM occurring in OLT and RN.
Red, green, and blue (RGB) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are widely used in everyday illumination, particularly where color-changing lighting is required. On the other hand, digital cameras with color filter arrays over image sensors have been also extensively integrated in smart devices. Therefore, optical camera communications (OCC) using RGB LEDs and color cameras is a promising candidate for cost-effective...
A simultaneous all-optical WDM multicast and unicast scheme with large bandwidth for WDM optical access network by using a multicast module based on FWM in SOA has been proposed and verified. Two strategies of setting the multicast module have been discussed to apply this scheme to passive optical network and active optical network. One-to-four WDM multicasts of 10Gb/s NRZ-OOK signal are successfully...
The paper presents a hybrid orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) — wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) visible light communication (VLC). Direct detection is adopted in place of complex digital signal processing such as channel estimation and channel equalization, or even forward error corrections. Generic red, green and blue light emitting diodes (LED) are used for high-speed WDM...
Proposed in paper is a clustered LR-PON with hierarchical architecture and multi-dimension DBA, applying MPCP and PPPoE to tree topology and star topology. The DBA scheme is based on dimensions of wavelength, frequency and time.
Presented in this paper is a dynamic BW allocation based on the energy, delay and BW for the community WD-Mand-OFDM-combined passive optical network (COMWOP) architecture. The performances of proposed architecture and algorithm are simulated and evaluated.
We propose a remotely pumped EDFA and tunable transmitter-based 40-Gb/s/λ downstream and 10-Gb/s/λ upstream transmissions long-reach WDM-PON scheme and an optical beat noise-based novel automatic wavelength control method for tunable transmitter. Transmissions of 40-Gb/s DQPSK downstream using MZ Modulator and 10-Gb/s OOK upstream using optical beat noise-based self wavelength managed tunable transmitter...
We not only propose three flexible optical cross-connect (OXC) structures, with the ability of wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) multicast, but also experimentally demonstrate two WDM multicast schemes based on four-wave mixing in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). One-to-ten WDM multicast of 25-Gb/s QPSK signals is achieved with three pumps, and the power penalties for all signals are...
We propose a wavelength-reuse bidirectional 10-Gb/s/l long-reach WDM-PON scheme and a novel automatic wavelength control method for tunable laser-based colorless ONU. Transmissions of wavelength-reuse bidirectional 10-Gb/s OOK are demonstrated with 60-km fiber transmission and 50-GHz channel spacing.
We propose a bidirectional 40-Gb/s/X long-reach WDM-PON scheme and a novel automatic wavelength control method for tunable laser-based colorless ONU. Transmissions of 40-Gb/s DQPSK downstream and upstream are demonstrated with 40-km fiber transmission.
A new scheme of Colorless ONU with RSOA-Assisted Michelson Interferometer is proposed, for Rayleigh Backscattering suppression in single fiber WDM-PON systems. Simulations and discussions have been conducted to validate the proposal. The results are useful for designing cost-effective Multi-Wavelength PON or Point-to-Point Radio over Fiber system.
Based on analytical method, we show that when IP traffic is loaded directly over differential phase shift keying (DPSK) wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) systems with perfect dispersion compensation, the burstiness of IP packets has significant effects on the cross-phase modulation (XPM) induced nonlinear phase noise, and therefore exerts an influence on the packet-error probability performance...
