HPLC analysis of the roots of Cynanchum otophyllum Scheind (Asclepiadaceae) led to the isolation of six new pregnane glycosides, specifically otophyllosides N-P (2–4) and otophyllosides Q-S (7–9), in addition to the identification of three known C-21 steroidal glycosides, otophylloside A (1), otophylloside B (5) and caudatin 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-oleandropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-cymaropyranoside...
Six new pregnane glycosides with an acyl at C-12 and a straight sugar chain at C-3, namely otophyllosides H–M (1–6), were isolated from the roots of Cynanchum otophyllum (Asclepiadaceae) collected from Eryuan County in Yunnan province of China. Their structures were characterized to be qingyangshengenin 3-O-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-glucopyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-cymaropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-oleandropyranosyl-(1→4)-β-d-digitoxopyranoside...
Atropurosides A–G (1–7), seven new steroidal saponins, which possess new polyhydroxylated aglycones, were isolated from the rhizomes of Smilacina atropurpurea (Convallariaceae), together with a known saponin, dioscin (8). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR techniques and chemical methods. Antifungal testing of the eight compounds...
A 12(13→14)abeospirostanol dracaenogenin A (1) and a spirostanol dracaenogenin B (2) were isolated from Chinese dragon's blood, the red resin of Dracaena cochinchinensis (Agavaceae). Their structures were established as (14S,25R)12(13→14)abeospirosta-5,13(18)-diene-1β,3β,15α-triol (1) and (25R) spirost-5-ene-1β,3β,14α,15α-tetrol (2) by means of spectroscopic analysis, especially by 2D NMR spectra,...
Six new polyhydroxylated steroidal saponins, tupistrosides A–F (1–6), together with nine known steroids, were isolated from the fresh rhizomes of Tupistra yunnanensis. Their structures were elucidated to be (25S)-1β,4β,5β-trihydroxy-spirostane-3β-yl O-α-l-arabinopyranoside (1), 1β,24β-dihydroxy-spirost-5,25(27)-dien-3α-yl O-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), (22S,25S)-1α,2β,3α,5α-tetrahydroxy-furo-spirostane-26-yl...
A further phytochemical investigation on the fresh stem of Dracaena cochinchinensis yielded 18 steroidal saponins. Fourteen of which are new compounds, designated as 25(R,S)-dracaenosides E-H, M, O-Q, dracaenosides I-L, R, and 25(S)-dracaenoside N. Their structures were determined by detailed spectroscopic analysis, including extensive 1D and 2D NMR data, and the result of hydrolytic reaction.
