Das reaktivste chemische Element ist F2. Daher nahm man an, dass es keine natürlichen Vorkommen von F2 gibt. Mithilfe von NMR‐Spektroskopie wird erstmals in situ und somit zweifelsfrei belegt, dass Fluor elementar als F2 in der Natur vorkommt.
