In recent years, opportunistic routing protocol (Opportunistic Routing, OR) has aroused wide concern because it can improve the throughput and reliability in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) by taking full advantage of wireless link broadcast features. However, there is not any valid opportunistic routing for WSN applications. This paper proposes a lightweight distributed packet-based opportunistic...
In order to prolong the lifetime and reduce the transmission delay of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), we propose a novel Hierarchical Routing Protocol based on Dynamic Weight (HRPDW) for WSNs. In our HRPDW, first considering the important parameters of both residual energy and transmission delay, we set the dynamic weight; second, every sensor node stores the dynamic weights of its several adjacent...
In this paper, we propose a location-based optimal route zone finding algorithm for wireless sensor networks in building automation system. We compared the performance of this routing algorithm with that of AODVjr and LAR. The simulation results showed that this routing algorithm improved the packet delivery ratio and reduced the packet average delay.
ZACA-EEC (Zigbee Ant Colony Algorithm Energy Efficient Cluster) routing protocol is proposed to replace AODV in Zigbee with the aim of increasing reliability for mine equipment monitoring in this paper, which can prolong the lifetime of network remarkably. Taking hydraulic support as an example, the distribution of monitoring nodes can be simplified as chain hierarchy topology, then Free-space model...
Clustering is an effective approach to hierarchically organizing network topology and to prolong the lifetime of a wireless sensor network. Current clustering protocols usually utilize two techniques: selecting cluster heads with more residual energy and rotating cluster heads periodically to distribute the energy consumption among nodes in each cluster. Most of the researches in this field has focused...
Although numerous routing protocols have been designed for wireless sensor networks, not all are suitable for wireless sensor networks in home automation (WSNHA). In this paper, we evaluate some popular wireless sensor network routing protocols for their suitability to WSNHA. We also propose a greedy-algorithm heuristic routing (GAHR) protocol and an A* algorithm for route finding. We compared the...
To deal with the problem of mine safety monitoring, an improved TinyOS Beaconing-based WSN routing protocol is presented in this paper. Comparing to TinyOS Beaconing protocol, this improved protocol can not only aware Energy and repair route automatically, but also can inhibit the number of child nodes and that of system levels. The prominent characteristics are small routing table, long life, high...
In this paper we present the simulation-based performance evaluation and tuning of data dissemination in wireless sensor networks. The simulation uses directed diffusion protocol for query and data dissemination. The implementation is done in Java using eclipse. The simulation includes four phases: interest propagation, gradient establishment, data propagation, and reinforcement of path establishment...
