In this paper, we formulate the microgrid islanding problem as distributed constraint optimization problem (DCOP) and investigate the feasibility of solving it using off-the-shelf DCOP algorithms. This paper puts forward the potential of distributed constraint reasoning paradigm as a candidate for solving common microgrids problems.
This paper presents a formulation of a comprehensive optimization problem for the operation of the customer-driven microgrid — an evolution of today's distribution feeders into feeders with significant distributed generation, demand response capability and communication infrastructure. Multiple test-cases are presented to assess the proposed formulation. Approaches to implementation are discussed.
