In high-speed optical networks, quantifying both the intensity and the frequency behaviors of optical signals has become a crucial task to evaluate transmission performance. In this letter, we report on a new technique to characterize optical signals. It is based on low-cost components and its operating mode is easy to provide accurate and fast measurements. The proposed technique is experimentally...
Control of chirp parameter in a fully integrated EML-SOA chip based on InGaAlAs MQW technology is investigated. Transmission at 10 Gbit/s over 100 km of conventional SMF was obtained by optimizing signal chirp at emission.
We discuss the design and characterisations of a passive all-optical device for 2R regeneration based on a dual-stage of high-speed microcavity saturable absorbers. The measurement of signals at 40GHz by FROG technique reveals the low chirp introduced by this device.
