Modal birefringence of the high-order modes in geometry-perturbed fibers with a multiple rotational symmetry core is analyzed by coupled-mode theory. The criterion of modal birefringence is thus identified by the angular-matching condition in mode couplings, which can be verified by waveguide modal analysis. It will benefit for the applications of the kind of fibers.
With the development of long life and high reliability satellite, the radiation resistance ability of aerospace components has been put forward higher requirements. If the radiation resistance ability of components doesn't satisfy the requirement, it will need to be hardened by radiation shielding. However, there is a great deal of redundancy in the radiation shield hardening method used in satellite...
This paper considers bipartite consensus of linear multi-agent systems over signed directed graphs, where both collaboration and competition coexist. The agent dynamics are distinct and can all have different dimensions. The communication graph can be time-varying and need not to be connected at each time. A distributed control law is proposed which enables the group to split into two disjoint subgroups,...
Infrared search system is widely used in tactical warning, however the high false alarm rate severely affected the accuracy of target searching. Due to a different working principle, infrared and millimeter-wave compound search system can compensate the defect of infrared search system, reduce false alarm rates effectively. The design of the system of infrared search system and millimeter wave phased...
DC/DC power converters are core devices of power system in charge of convert motherboard voltage into secondary supply voltage, and it plays pivotal roles in supporting aircrafts on-orbit missions. As the size of the integrated circuit becomes smaller and smaller, the power supply voltage of the device is getting lower and lower. However, the Single Event Transient (SET) from DC/DC power converters...
Because of properties of high speed, high breakdown voltage, low leakage current and high temperature resistance, silicon carbide (SiC) power devices can be used as processing units in advanced space high-power power system and high temperature propulsion power. However, the single event gate-rupture and burn-out on silicon carbide (SiC) power devices is main problem in space application for its high...
Predictable wireless networking is a basis for real-time cyber-physical-human (CPH) systems such as those in augmented reality, connected and automated vehicles, and industrial automation, and a fundamental problem in predictable wireless networking is predictable control of intra-network interference in the presence of dynamics and uncertainties. We present the Physical-Ratio-K (PRK) wireless interference...
More diverse marine tasks and longer range water missions require the hydrodynamic shape, viz. hull shape, of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for both efficient design and least resistance. Therefore a systematic design for the hydrodynamic shape of AUVs is needed and necessary to meet the various requirements. In the present work, a hierarchical classification for the hull shape of AUVs was...
As a key component for underwater gliders, the buoyancy engine plays an important role in the operation of gliders, the performance of which directly affects the monolithic reliability. In this paper, to lower costs of research on the buoyancy engine, a dynamic simulation is established by AMEsim software, in which the performance of the low-pressure boost gear pump and that of the high-pressure hydraulic...
In this paper we present a stability analysis approach for polynomially-dependent one-parameter systems. The approach, which appears to be conceptually appealing and computationally efficient and is referred to as an eigenvalue perturbation approach, seeks to characterize the analytical and asymptotic properties of eigenvalues of matrix-valued functions or operators. The essential problem dwells on...
In wireless networked control systems, ensuring predictable communication link reliabilities among sensors, controllers, and actuators is critical. In such scenarios, different data gathered at the application layer of each sender require different packet delivery ratios (i.e., reliabilities). The lower layers try to accommodate these requests by first mapping each of them into a service level and...
This paper aims at solving the sign-consensus problem of linear multi-agents system, i.e., the signs of all agents' states achieve consensus. The communication network is modeled by a signed directed graph, where both cooperative and competitive interactions coexist among the agents. Each individual agent is assumed to access only the local information, and a fully distributed control protocol is...
Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) beat the Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs), and become the state-of-the-art techniques for acoustic model. Then various neural networks based acoustic models are proposed to make the speech recognition systems better and better. However these successes are not adopted in the researches of Mongolian speech recognition. This study fills in this gap. We study a series of neural...
This paper presents the architecture of GENI edge cloud computing network in the form of compute and storage resources, a mobile 4G cellular edge and a high speed campus network connecting these components. This deployment is available across fifty campuses in the US, all interconnected via a nationwide Layer-2 network. We present these capabilities in the context of vehicular sensing and control...
Incremental sheet metal forming is a novel kind of flexible forming technology widely used in industry. This technology has been applied in ship hull plate forming field, showing many advantages over traditional production processes such as high forming limit, high degree of automation and good adaptability to plate shapes. This paper introduces the development of an eight-axis open CNC system for...
Urban built-up area information is pivotal to understand complex drivers and mechanisms in global climate change application. However, built-up area extraction using Landsat time series data is a challenging task due to spatial-temporal expression and modeling of land cover types. To provide insights into the intra-annual dynamics of land use change, focusing on how time series characteristics improves...
This paper aims to address the output bipartite consensus problem of heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems over signed directed graphs, where both collaboration and competition coexist within the group. The agents can all have different dynamics but the same output dimensions. The main idea is to relate the output bipartite consensus with the well studied conventional output consensus over nonnegative...
This paper investigates sign-consensus of linear multi-agent systems, that is the signs of all agents' states achieve consensus. The communication network we consider is a signed graph, which consists of both positive and negative edges, representing collaboration and competition interactions, respectively. A state feedback control protocol is proposed to make a group of agents achieve sign-consensus...
This paper proposes a new single line diagram automatic generation method for distribution network with ring based on genetic algorithm. The method can eliminate the edge crossing, avoid components overlap and keep the layout elegant. To achieve the above goals, the none-edge crossing model is brought up and a multi-objective function is established. The solution of the objective function is acquired...
Wireless sensor networks are envisioned to be an integral part of cyber-physical systems, yet wireless networks are inherently dynamic and come with varieties of uncertainties. One such uncertainty is wireless communication itself which assumes complex spatial and temporal dynamics. For dependable and predictable performance, therefore, link estimation has become a basic element of wireless network...
