We propose an optical fiber sensor for detecting the liquid level and position with long-period fiber gratings (LPFGs) based on the mechanical deformation. We investigate the applied weight dependence of resonance loss of LFPGs in the 850nm wavelength range. Moreover, we clarify that the transmission loss of our LPFG depends on the position where the weight is given.
