A novel approach to generate quadrature duobinary (QDB) format with return-to-zero (RZ) carving is proposed. RZ pulse shaping would give 2 dB fiber nonlinearity tolerance over non-return-to-zero (NRZ) QDB while keeping a similar filtering tolerance.
As a modulation-format transparent nonlinear process, FWM is capable of generating complex optical signal constellations. In experiments and simulations, optical ASK-DPSK and 8-QAM signals are generated with one-step or two cascaded FWM processes, respectively.
Dual-polarization operation of all-optical IFFT/FFT elements is demonstrated for the first time employing coupler interferometry. All-optical OFDM transmission at 100-Gb/s for two QPSK-PDM sub-carriers was experimentally performed using two matched 25 G DMZIs and coherent detection.
We designed and built a novel all-optical re-timing, re-amplifying, and re-shaping (3R) regeneration system based on terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexers (TOADs) developed in our laboratory. The system is capable of parallel processing multiple wavelengths, a feature which will significantly improve the scalability of current wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks. Performance against...
SOA-based Sagnac interferometers are traditionally regarded as optical RZ signal processing units. We first analyze and demonstrate NRZ wavelength conversion by introducing an interference bias for the Sagnac loop caused by the polarization control.
