A bidirectional fiber-IVLLC and fiber-wireless convergence system based on two orthogonally polarized optical sidebands for hybrid CATV/MMW/BB signal transmission is proposed and demonstrated. Two orthogonally polarized optical sidebands are transmitted over a 40-km SMF transport to effectively reduce the fiber dispersion and the distortion. The approach presented in this work signifies the advancements...
A hybrid fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and radio-over-fiber (RoF) transport system is proposed to transmit one wired signal and two wireless signals simultaneously through an optical lightwave. By properly utilizing the polarization characteristic of a phase-remodulated and polarization-remodulated optical lightwave, the first- and second-order sidebands of the lightwave can be colorlessly separated for...
We experimentally demonstrate simultaneous phase noise suppression and automatically locked tunable homodyne reception for 20-Gbaud QPSK signal. The phase noise deviation can be reduced by a factor of ∼3. Open I/Q eyes are obtained after the noise mitigation.
We experimentally demonstrate a tunable homodyne receiver on multiple-wavelength QPSK and 16-QAM channels at 20/30 Gbaud. A single PPLN waveguide is used to frequency/phase lock the signals with their tones. Open eye diagrams with BER measurements are shown.
We demonstrate a data pattern correlator for OOK and BPSK signals that can simultaneously search for multiple patterns using optical sampling via wavelength conversion. We show reconfiguration times as low as 100 ps for the search pattern update in the correlator.
We experimentally demonstrate a chromatic dispersion monitoring technique for a 40-Gb/s OOK data by measuring the pulse pattern after optical VSB filtering centered at high frequency. A 142.2-ps delay of the pattern changes with 0∼400-ps/nm chromatic dispersion.
We experimentally demonstrate a technique to simultaneously monitor transmitter chirp and chromatic dispersion utilizing the first and second optical harmonics of a RZ-OOK data. Monitored results of modulator typical chirp and dispersion of 0∼400-ps/nm are obtained.
We experimentally demonstrate an OSNR monitoring technique for 80-Gb/s polarization-multiplexed RZ-DPSK utilizing narrowband optical filter and RF spectrum analysis. Maximum RF power increment of 19.7 dB, insensitive to CD and PMD, is measured for monitoring of OSNR up to 27 dB.
