An integrated 13-GHz VCO for a single-chip radiometer is presented. The VCO exhibits a large tuning range which thus allows to compensate for the tolerance affecting the free-running frequency without resorting to trimming or mixed analog-digital architecture. The VCO provides a direct 13 GHz and, thus, avoids frequency doubling.
