A transparent and dynamic delivery of mobile front-/back-haul for converged metro/access elastic networking is experimentally demonstrated employing sliceable bandwidth/bitrate variable transceivers based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing and direct detection. Testbed experiments show successful transmission after 60 km and up to 100 Gb/s data rate.
We have implemented a multi-layer PCE and compared performance of various algorithms using either one integrated, or two separate PCEs in each layer. Multi-layer integration reduces blocking by 13,91%, but increases computation time by 49,24%.
Future optical networks may increase their efficiency and flexibility by the utilization of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). When such a technique is employed, the spectrum assigned to a lightpath can be tailored to suit its requirements. Thus, when addressing the establishment of optical connections (lightpaths) in flexible optical networks, rather than solving the well-known Routing...
This paper summarises the modelling results obtained with a sub-wavelength optical packet switching technology, called OPST (Optical Packet Switch and Transport), when compared against an IPoDWDM solution. In particular, the impact of data centre location in the network on the network cost is studied for two architectures based on different technologies. Data centre location, routing strategies, service...
This paper introduces and demonstrates the technical feasibility of a new network architecture where Internet traffic between IP accesses (BRAS) and inter-carrier interconnection nodes is exclusively transported over multi-granular photonic switching technologies without any intermediary transit IP packet processing.
Ranging techniques have significant effects on localization accuracy, system complexity, and system cost, in most common wireless location systems. In such systems, loss of accuracy is most often caused by the lack of a direct line-of-sight (LOS) between a mobile user (MU) and a reference access point (AP). This drawback is increased when the location system is deployed in cluttered scenarios. Modeling...
