Site and time diversity are countermeasures used in satellite links to mitigate outage due to rain attenuation; in this paper these techniques will be compared through radar simulation, and the close mutual relationship highlighted.
Satellite telecommunication systems that make use of frequencies higher than 10 GHz can experience strong attenuation due to rain. One of the countermeasures that can be adopted is time-diversity. In this paper the performance of time-diversity satellite communication systems is investigated through radar simulation.
