High performance microwave cavity filters are finding increasing applications in satellite and mobile communication systems. Today band-pass coaxial cavity filters with rectangular enclosures are commonly used in wireless base-stations because of small size and their unique characteristics including low cost, wide tuning range and excellent spurious-free performance. Rigorous electromagnetic analysis...
A novel microstrip antenna is presented. This antenna combines a circular patch and square patch such that the resonant frequency of the new design lies between the theoretical resonant frequencies for the circular and square antennas. The polarization of the new antenna is linear, and its radiation pattern has the same general characteristics as the square and circular microstrip antennas.
Design of wireless communication systems inside buildings requires accurate site-specific characterization of indoor radio channel. In the complicated indoor communication environment, transmitting and receiving antennas are often inevitably installed close to wall corners, edges and other complex lossy scatters, where exact solution to scattering field distribution is not available. Channel models...
A new down-sized circular patch antenna for small portable terminals is introduced and implemented. In this design a circular patch antenna is divided into two separate parts which are then connected to each other by a number of parallel transmission lines. It is demonstrated that the resonant frequency can be reduced and controlled by changing the number and modifying the characteristics of these...
A high temperature superconductor (HTS) microstrip line structure with gilded edges is proposed for improving its power handling capability based on a specified limit of harmonic generation. In this microstrip line structure two narrow and thin gold strips, which have a regular constant (linear) resistivity, are added (gilded) on the edges of the top surface of the HTS strip. A general modeling approach...
Silicate and phosphate glass waveguide amplifiers doped with Er3+, and co-doped with Er3+/Yb3+ are theoretically studied. Configurations for core and core–cladding doped waveguide amplifiers are considered. It is shown that gain in the core–cladding doped amplifiers is considerably higher than core doped amplifiers. It is also shown that with input signal power up to 1 and 200mW pump power, a 12.5dB...
Power handling capability of a HTS strip depends on the maximum current density at its corners. In this paper, an efficient and numerically stable method was discussed to compute the current distribution over the cross section of a superconducting strip in a stripline structure. The problem is formulated in terms of a set of coupled integral equations for the interior and exterior regions. The method...
