In this paper we investigate limitations of delta connected multilevel STATCOMs based on chain links of H bridge cells/modules in compensation of positive sequence reactive and/or negative sequence currents. Particular attention is paid on the effect of grid voltage imbalance on balance of arm capacitor voltages and required supplementary zero and/or negative sequence current injections.
In this paper we investigate limitations of H-bridge multilevel STATCOMs in the compensation of current imbalance in industrial applications. In either star or delta topology of the STATCOM converters, the zero sequence injection is used to balance power flows (i.e. to balance dc bus capacitor voltages) in the arm converters. In imbalanced situations the compensation capability of the current imbalance...
In the coming years electric vehicles will become a part of the transportation system in Europe. This contribution considers the impact of a penetration of electric cars on a distribution grid. For computations load profiles of electric cars (EC) are used by means of real battery measurements. A real low voltage grid data is used to show that security of supply could be ensured when there is a high...
