In this paper, a novel doubly magnetic geared permanent magnet (DMG-PM) machine is proposed. Through numerical finite element analysis, it is found that the torque transmission capability of the DMG-PM machine is ∼24% higher than its regular counterparts, while the PM usage remains the same. Moreover, the back-EMF is enlarged significantly by ∼37%. In addition, the power factor of the proposed machine...
A consequent pole, dual rotor, axial flux vernier permanent magnet (VPM) machine is developed to reduce magnet usage and increase torque density. Its end winding length is much shorter than that of regular VPM machines due to its toroidal winding configuration. The configurations and features of the proposed machine are discussed. Benefited from its vernier and consequent pole structure, this new...
