We proposed a new design of a boron lined neutron detector with separated neutron converter and electron multiplier to simplify the manufacturing process. The comprehensive simulations about the detection efficiency have been performed with the aid of MCNP5, Maxwell and Garfield. The neutron detection efficiency with one row of detector unit could achieve 47%@25.3meV with the natB layer and can reach...
Neutron-TPC (nTPC) is a under-developing fast neutron spectrometer based on GEM-TPC. By measuring energy deposition and scattering angles of protons recoiled by incident neutrons, one can deduce the neutron spectrum. Except for protons, some other particles, such as 12C, 40Ar, gamma and muon, will also enter the effective volume of TPC and bring in background. By analyzing the characteristics of signals,...
This paper investigated the influence of GEM detector gain on the spatial resolution of a GEM-TPC prototype. Tests show that the x-resolution of the TPC prototype improves with the increase of the voltage of GEM readout detector. The change tendencies of the effective number of electron and the relative gain match quite well.
