We demonstrate the 40-Gb/s QPSK upstream transmission in 60-km reach WDM PON (channel spacing: 50 GHz) implemented by using directly modulated RSOAs and self-homodyne receivers together with the offset PDM technique.
We propose a simple carrier phase estimation technique for the phase-modulated signal generated by using bandwidth-limited RSOA. By using this technique, we demonstrate 25.78-Gb/s QPSK upstream transmission in 60-km reach coherent RSOA-based WDM PON.
We propose and demonstrate a simple technique to generate 10-Gb/s QPSK signal by directly modulating an RSOA with instantaneous injection/depletion currents. No electronic equalization technique is needed to overcome the limited bandwidth of the RSOA.
We demonstrate 10-Gb/s, 80-km-reach RSOA-based WDM PON by utilizing the digital coherent detection and electronic phase equalization techniques. The upstream signal is obtained by directly modulating a TO-can packaged RSOA with 10-Gb/s QPSK signal.
We demonstrate the 25.78-Gb/s operation of directly-modulated RSOA. The results show that it is possible to transmit the 25.78-Gb/s signal over 20 km in the wavelength range of ~20 nm with the dispersion compensation module.
Summary form only given. To explore the possibility of utilizing the evanescent surface wave propagating on fibers held in air for the purpose of realizing a fiber structure suited for the high bit-rate optical interconnection, a hollow-core cylindrical thin fiber contains no periodic structure within it is examined numerically. It is shown that the fiber having a group velocity close to the vacuum...
