We investigated the resonator modes of a two-dimensional quasi-stadium laser diode with concave end mirrors by using an extended Fox-Li mode calculation method. The resonator modes were found to have a significant wavelength dependence due to beam interference in the laser cavity. A scar mode was observed in which optical beams are localized on unstable periodic orbits at a wavelength at which the...
A novel beam-shaping method for laser diodes that uses Lloyd's mirror interference is proposed and demonstrated. The vertical beam divergence angle is reduced from 15.6 to 6.3 degrees by setting a substrate below the active layer.
Lasing modes in a two-dimensional quasistadium resonator with confocal curved end-mirrors were investigated. Asymmetric output beam emission was obtained by the locking of two modes of different symmetry classes corresponding to a closed ring-trajectory.
