Heterogeneous integration of different technologies is increasingly required in microsystems integration. This entails the need of both technology development and new design methodologies. This work realized a high-performance Ku-band SiP Doppler radar demonstrator based on the combination of technologies and design methodologies.
This paper demonstrates a MEMS-switched parasitic antenna array at 5.6 GHz providing two radiation patterns with beams at plusmn25deg. The antenna is fabricated on a low-loss microwave substrate and uses packaged micro-electromechanical (MEMS) series switches. The design and optimization procedure is presented as well as experimental results showing a good agreement
