We present a design of multi-beam antenna system using a hybrid scheme of analogous and digital beam-forming mechanisms. Exponentially tapered slot antennas are used as the array elements for a potential broadband operation. The system was prototyped to examine its characteristics in the beam-forming and interference cancellation.
In this paper, we investigate the effect of edge corrugations on the improvement of the front-to-back ratio (F/B ratio) for the antipodal dual exponentially tapered slot antennas (DETSA). While the inclusion of the corrugation did not have much effect on the peak gain of the antenna, the improvement came mainly from the suppression of the back-lobe levels. A new configuration for the edge corrugation...
Dual exponentially tapered slot antennas (DETSA) have been widely applied in a lot of communication systems due to high gain, wide bandwidth, and most importantly, ease of integration with planar circuitry. For practical implementation scenarios, it is necessary to maintain high front-to-back ratio (F/B ratio) to guarantee desired system performance. In this paper, we experimentally investigated the...
Design of an aperture-coupled patch antenna for applications in radio frequency identification (RFID) system operating at UFH (915 MHz) and microwave (2.4 GHz) bands is presented in this paper. The novelty of the proposed structure lies in the fact that the coupling aperture for the patch antenna is designed as the slot antenna radiating at UHF frequency. The front-to-back ratio at UHF band was improved...
This paper presents a WLAN card's MIMO antenna structure, which uses three loops implemented with geometrical discriminations to produce diversities. Potential methods that utilize ground strips and slots to compromise the return and insertion (isolation) losses are numerically and experimentally examined. Data throughput via a realistic system implementation was also examined, which has shown that...
