Simultaneous I and Q extraction for 16-QAM is experimentally demonstrated through field-quadrature decomposition using a polarization-assisted phase sensitive amplifier. The quadrature components are successfully received and performance is evaluated through bit-error-ratio testing.
In this paper, we present recent research on silicon nanowires for ultra-fast and ultra-broadband optical signal processing at DTU Fotonik. The advantages and limitations of using silicon nanowires for optical signal processing are revealed through experimental demonstrations of various optical signal processing.
An experimental demonstration of dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) grid manipulation is carried out using two time lenses. A DWDM spectrum is compressed from a 100-GHz to a 28-GHz grid with error-free performance.
All-optical 2R regeneration of a 160-Gbit/s RZ-OOK signal is demonstrated in a fiber optical parametric amplifier using a highly nonlinear fiber with the data as pump. Bit error rate bathtub curves validate the regeneration performance.
We demonstrated for the first time 80 to 40 Gb/s OTDM-DPSK demultiplexing using a single SOA assisted by offset-filtering. Error free performance is achieved with an average power penalty of 5.5 dB.
We report on the first demonstration of 640 Gbit/s wavelength conversion by FWM. This is demonstrated using a novel elliptic core PM-HNLF giving sufficient FWM conversion bandwidth.
We demonstrate transmission of 16 WDM channels at 10 Gbit/s with 50 GHz channel spacing over 3 times 80 km NZDSF, with small OSNR penalty, using only a single Raman-pumped dispersion compensating module positioned before the receiver.
