The wavelength tunable filter will play a key role in realizing C/D/C add/drop functions in ROADMs. We fabricate a novel tunable filter for 192 optical channels on a PLC chip. Transmission experiments verify its optical characteristics.
We demonstrate efficient Colorless/Directionless/Contentionless add/drop configuration utilizing newly proposed tunable filters to develop flexible OXCs/ROADMs. The filter is compactly fabricated on a 15×70 mm2 PLC chip and the performance was verified.
We propose a novel waveband-selective switch that uses cyclic arrayed-waveguide gratings. The device is fabricated on one chip using planer lightwave circuit technologies. Tests demonstrate that the designed performance is successfully realized.
An 8 ch DFB-LD-PLC hybrid device was fabricated with high precision active alignment. The coupling loss between the DFB-LD and the PLC was 3.6 dB. All of 8 ch DFB-LDs oscillated appropriately.
