The effect of accelerated cooling parameters on microstructure and hydrogen initiated cracking (HIC) is studied for thick-walled low-alloy steels of strength categories X52–X65 used for manufacturing large diameter pipes intended for operation in hydrogen sulfide media. Optimum accelerated cooling regimes are determined providing formation of a ferrite-bainite microstructure throughout the rolled...
Results are presented for experiments of development and assimilation of three-stage thermal hardening technology for rolled grinding balls 100 and 120 mm in diameter made from low-alloy steel grade (K76F, 75G2S) with the aim of increasing their hardness to the level of the 3rd group of DSTU 3499. Ball thermal hardening regime parameters, the hardness level achieved, and operating life are described.
