We demonstrate a novel sensing platform using microring resonator sensors integrated with superprism based photonic crystal spectrometers for sharp spectral features detection. Using this platform a 20 pm sensor resonance wavelength shift was experimentally resolved.
We demonstrate on-chip, large-scale arrays of small high-Q microdisk resonators, suitable for both in-plane coupling and out-of-plane (imaging) spectral analysis devices with high resolution (linewidth < 50 pm to 0.5 nm), and large FSR (> 50 nm).
Summary form only given. Silicon-on-insulator technology promises improved performance for CMOS integrated circuits. Due to their unique optical properties, SOI structures offer the ability to integrate long-wavelength photonic devices into the CMOS integrated circuits. A 5/spl times/9 star coupler was fabricated with rib waveguide widths of 4 /spl mu/m and rib height of 2.0 /spl mu/m. Each waveguide...
