We generate over two octaves of light in Bessel-beam-like fiber modes by pumping in the LP06 mode of a custom fiber. Distinct lines are generated in the visible in mode orders that increase monotonically from LP07 at 678 nm to LP016 at 453 nm.
The nonlinear properties of a nanosecond pulse in a higher-order-mode, Er-doped-fiber amplifier with 2440 μm2 effective area are compared to a conventional 880 μm2 area fiber. Both 1480 nm pump and 1554 nm signal propagate in the LP09 mode.
We numerically model the performance of high-power 977-nm fiber lasers and amplifiers pumped at 915 nm, in which the Yb is doped in a ring inside the core of a high-order-mode (HOM) fiber. Light in the spatially coherent LP07 mode is amplified in the fiber, and then coupled to the LP01 mode by long-period gratings. For the laser, it is found that parasitic oscillation on the 1023-nm four-level transition...
