Two dual frequency band patch antennas are presented fabricated on clothing materials. The antennas operate over the wireless network bands at 2.45 Hz and 5 GHz. To reduce back radiation the antennas were placed over an electromagnetic band gap surface. Back radiation was reduced by 10 to 15 dB while maintaining the impedance match over the frequency bands.
A dual frequency electromagnetic bandgap based antenna is described fabricated on common clothing materials. Wet and dry performance was evaluated. The antenna operates over the wireless network bands at 2.45 Hz and 5 GHz. To reduce back radiation the antenna was placed over an electromagnetic band gap surface. Back radiation was reduced by 10 to 15 dB while maintaining the impedance match over the...
This paper presents two designs of compact planar antennas over electromagnetic band gap materials (EBGs). The applications addressed here are for the automotive market and body worn antennas. Researchers demonstrated in E. R. Brown et al. (1993) and R. Coccoili et al. (1999) how antennas combined with EBG structures gain performance enhancements by suppressing surface waves and improving efficiency...
