A new architecture using a half-rate clock for pseudo-random-bit-sequence (PRBS) generator has been devised for high-speed and low-power operation. For proof of concept, a 27−1 PRBS generator IC was designed and fabricated with 290-GHz-fT InP HBT technology. The PRBS generator operates up to 100 Gbps with a low power consumption of 955 mW, leading to a record figure-of-merit of 1.42 mW·Gbps−1. This...
We demonstrate hybrid 40-Gb/s and 100-Gb/s PDM-QPSK DWDM transmission using real-time DSP in 580-km DSF-installed field testbed. The nonlinear crosstalk penalty due to the hybrid transmission of less than 0.5 dB is confirmed.
We have developed a two-channel automatic-gain-controlled transimpedance amplifier IC by using InP heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) technology. The single-ended maximum S21 was 28 dB and the 3-dB bandwidth was 19 GHz. The estimated maximum differential transimpedance gain is 68 dBOmega. This IC is suitable for assembling a single-package two- channel photoreceiver for a compact 43-Gbit/s optical...
