A model of sandwich-like LTS/HTS hybrid superconducting slab was proposed to enhance the adiabatic stability in case of flux jumping, where Bi2223 is used on both sides of Nb3Sn as part of a stabilizer as low-resistivity metals. Its I–V characteristic is calculated by the power-law model with an equivalent n-value. In this paper, the adiabatic stability criterion is deduced and compared with classic...
Development of an LTS/HTS magnet made of NbTi/Cu wire and YBCO tape is introduced in this paper. In order to combine the two kinds of superconductors together, a special adhesive made of epoxy resin and copper powder was used. A transposition method was applied to balance the current and magnetic field between LTS and HTS. Lastly, minimum quench energies (MQE) of LTS/HTS magnet and LTS magnet were...
In this paper, the adiabatic stability of the LTS/HTS composite superconducting conductor was analyzed and compared with conventional LTS conductor. The I-V characteristic is generally described by the power-law model with index n-value. The equivalent n-value of LTS/HTS composite conductor based on the power law model was calculated and discussed. The results show that the LTS/HTS composite conductor...
A LTS/HTS composite round wire, made of NbTi/Cu and YBCO was proposed. A 2D heat transfer model has been developed to analyze its thermal stability. Joule heat produced by current transfer was calculated by using the power-law model. The simulation results show that the LTS/HTS composite round wire has instinctive better stability with respect to classical LTS conductor wire.
