Traditional dimension reduction approaches always consider the samples in a class are uni-modal. In real world, samples in a class are usually multi-modal, for instance, the manifold of the facial appearance of a person under different illumination, expression, and poses is multi-modal. Recently, dimension reduction approaches based on manifold learning are presented, the main purpose is to preserve...
To search corresponding points fast and accurately, a pair of stereo images must be rectified. A method is presented to rectify stereo pairs for uncalibrated cameras. The sampling of the original images is best preserved by penalizing minification and magnification effects. Experiments of image rectification show that this method can rectify stereo pairs accurately, and bring little image distortion.
with English, and they are not suitable for Chinese character synthesis. In this paper, we propose an unified approach for modeling and synthesizing Chinese characters. Using a three-level hierarchical representation, each character is decomposed into basic components, which forms the stroke database and radical database. In the synthesis process, we use a wavelet-based approach to select proper strokes...
An Adiabatic Matching Device (AMD), which generates a tapered magnetic field with initial on-axis field up to 5 Tesla, is required in ILC positron capturing optics. A proposed scheme is to use a pulsed normal conducting flux concentrator to generate the strong magnetic field. By varying the inner shape of a flux concentrator, one can shape the on-axis magnetic field profile of the AMD. In this paper,...
A pulsed normal conducting flux concentrator is an optional scheme of the ILC positron source adiabatic matching device (AMD). In order to facilitate the design of flux concentrator based AMD, an equivalent circuit model was proposed. A prototype flux concentrator was built and tested to validate the model. Good agreement was obtained between the measurement results and simulations based on the model.
A super-fine compound powder, Ag/SnO2-La2O3-Bi2O3 has been obtained using the chemical co-precipitation method. The contact material has been made by this compound power through forming, sintering, re-pressing and annealing to improve its conductivity, density and hardness. The sample material has been achieved by the following preparation process parameters: forming at a pressure of 30 tons, sintering...
Over-load relay is widely used for electrical motor protection. Its reliability is becoming more and more important. This paper studies the reliability test method of over-load relay. According to the operation and failure modes of over-load relay, the protective success ratio is adopted as a reliability characteristic value. Based on the reliability estimation method and the sampling theory, the...
This paper presents a novel Local Binary Pattern (LBP) based Kernel Fisher Discriminant Analysis (KFDA) approach by integrating the LBP descriptor of face images and the KFDA method for face classifier. LBP extracts desirable facial features which consider both shape and texture information to cope with the variation due to facial expression and illumination changes. The KFDA method is then extended...
