The traffic flow information guidance (TFIG) can adjust the road load of regional traffic. Based on TFIG model and example of the region at the Southwest Second Ring of Beijing constructed by six roads, including three heavy traffic roads, and six intersections, we focus on the left-turn traffic jam in southbound of I.A and propose the TFIG measures to guide part of them to branch roads: R.4 and/or...
The conflicts between traffic entities play an important role in reducing traffic efficiency. The delays from conflicts that exist between vehicles or vehicles and pedestrians are often ignored when a time-cost function is employed into route choice models in a traditional path-based traffic assignment. A lane-based network model is developed to depict the conflicts leading to the deceleration of...
Left-turn waiting area can improve the capacity and operational efficiency of the isolated signalized intersection. Based on the former researches and survey data, in this paper, we model the left-turn waiting area by dint of stop lines A, B and its length lAB, and parameters of left-turn signal, t1 ,t2 ,t3, t3. According to the flow chart and taking advantage of simulation software VISSIM, we emulate...
Variable message signs (VMS) plays an important role in route guidance of drivers and release of traffic congestion. Response to VMS of drivers is acquired in stated preference (SP) investigation. Traffic demand is estimated and analyzed by Gravity and route choice models. Effects of VMS on route choice and traffic delay are simulated through VISSIM software in the case study of Beijing.
