The catalytic activity of Pt1–xPdx nanoparticles supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was evaluated for both the hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Using a colloidal method, Pt1–xPdx/CNTs catalysts (x = 0, 0.46, 0.76, and 0.9) were prepared, and their physical and electrochemical characteristics were analyzed using...
The durability of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell with Pt catalysts supported on carbon nanotube (CNT) was investigated after a few hundred accelerated cell reversal process (RP) cycles generated by hydrogen deficiency. A variety of characterization techniques, including cell performance tests, were applied to examine the effects of CNT support on the degradation of Pt catalysts: transmission...
We fabricated the point emitter using a tip-treated carbon nanotube (CNT) fiber. The CNT point emitter showed the high emission current and good emission stability. It is considered that the excellent field emission properties are attributed to a large field enhancement factor caused by a large aspect ratio of the sharp tip of the point emitter and the tight binding of CNTs.
Acousto-electric current through a carbon nanotube (CNT) induced by a surface acoustic wave (SAW) was studied. SAW were generated by an inter-digital transducer (IDT) on a quartz substrate and delivered to a CNT to pump electrons along the direction of the SAW propagation. A distinct current plateau was observed as a function of gate voltages and SAW powers. The observed quantized current value was...
