In this work, a model for induction heating cooktops with non-linear loads is presented. The model includes both the electronic converter and the inductor-pot system, which is usually modeled by its frequency-dependent equivalent impedance. Due to the non-linear relation between the magnetic field and the magnetic flux density in ferromagnetic media, the equivalent impedance of the inductor-pot system...
Designing the converter for an induction cooker, the main difficult lies in the variability of the load, due to the wide range of vessels available in the market. Such issue is equivalent to the problem of identifying the vessel's properties. In this paper an identifying method of such properties is proposed with the objective of system-level simulation and design. The method is based on a combination...
Domestic induction heating systems exhibit temperature dependence on its main characteristics. In the past, analytical expressions of the equivalent impedance and efficiency were derived for a constant temperature planar inductor coil system. In this paper, extended expressions including thermal effects are proposed and, finally, experimentally validated by means of measurements and a FEM simulation.
