We improved the coupling efficiency to the free-space optical receiver by using a few-mode fiber with the optical signal distorted with a turbulence emulator. We demonstrated digital maximum ratio combining over 10-Gb/s BPSK transmission mitigated fading, relaxing the required transmitted power by 5 dB.
We propose a method for directional control of the shift selectivity of the speckle-multiplexed holograms using the holographic diffuser whose surface profile varies with the orthogonal direction. The method improves the tolerance of the spatial multiplexed holograms for the repositioning error in the holographic storage. In addition, we utilize the nature that the shift selectivity in the propagation...
A dielectric subwavelength Luneburg lens structure was designed using Hamiltonian ray tracing, and fabricated using electron beam lithography. Analysis from Hamiltonian ray tracing was in agreement with finite difference in time domain (FDTD) method with wavefront error between the two methods below λ/8, while an improvement in speed of approximately 100 times was observed. The fabricated Luneburg...
A novel modulation scheme for making a high-speed Quantum-key-distribution (QKD) with decoy-state is proposed and confirmed. Using the proposed scheme, photon number is optimised, and high-speed QKD with decoy-state for a metro-area network has successfully established.
