We report a Si3N4 microresonator which simultaneously satisfies single-mode operation, high Q-factor and anomalous dispersion. With controlled high-speed pump-wavelength scanning, we successfully observe a smooth phase-locked Kerr frequency comb transition based on dissipative solitons.
We propose a plasmonic refractive index-sensitive nanosensor based on the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) of waveguide resonator systems. The structure consists of one tooth-shaped cavity as well as the bus and stub metal-insulator-metal waveguides. By adjusting the structural geometry, it is demonstrated that the controllable transmission of EIT response can be obtained with the finite-difference-time-domain...
We present our work towards development of an optical buffer based on the InP platform that consists of two suspended coupled optical waveguides. A continuously tunable delay in the propagation time can be achieved by varying the spacing between the waveguides using MEMS actuation. Up to 100% variation of the delay time with a driving voltage of 3 V is predicted.
We propose a distorted optical waveguide around a microsphere to mimic curved spacetimes caused by the “gravitational fields”. Gravitational lensing effects analogues are experimentally demonstrated and this can be used to prospective light harvesting.
This work presents a spectrally accurate method for electromagnetic scattering from objects with complex permittivity embedded in a layered medium. Two-dimensional (2D) layered medium Green's functions are computed adaptively by using Gaussian quadratures. The singular terms in the Green's functions and the non-smooth terms in their derivatives are handled appropriately to achieve exponential convergence...
In this paper, an H-plane horn antenna is designed and studied in substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structures. The SIW horn input reflection coefficient and output radiation at 60 GHz have been simulated for a GaAs substrate of 100 um and 300 um thick, respectively. Microstrip line to SIW transition is also designed for possibly realization of the antenna into commercial GaAs MMIC circuit board.
